A Rainy Weekend Turned Into a Productive One!

We never have rain. When it does rain it is only two-three months out of a year, and those months are July-September! So It honestly has not rained since Dorian was born! But on Memorial Day weekend....It rained! For three solid straight days ha ha ha ha

We were supposed to go to the zoo and aquarium in Albqu. N. M. But I now know (like my sister says) know the rath of a crappy weekend of rain! ha ha ha

So we decided to be productive! (And by we I mean Niles) We have had this tile sitting in our garage since January. We bought it all on a really good sale, and we bought enough for the whole house along with enough paint for all of the different rooms we planned on doing. This weekend was Dorian and Addy's bathroom. They won't ever rememeber us doing this for them but it needed to be done and now the entire upstairs matches! ha ha

Niles painted the entire room, ripped up the ugly floor that was on it, re-tiled it (and his tiling is getting better with each room! :) ), as well as replacing all of the small features such as the curtain holder and towel rack, etc.! I helped out with painting the cabinet...but he hung them all and replaced the lighting in the bathroom too! So all in all Niles is the one to congratulate and praise for doing such a great job on this bathroom!

Before

(note the crappy floor and cupboards)

After! :)

Caught Red Handed!!!!

We were getting ready to go to the Big Girl Pool on base and Niles had to grab something in the bathroom real quick before we walked out the door. Dorian follows either of us around EVERYWHERE!!!! So I follow to make sure she doesn't get into anything. She has a past record of putting her hands in places she shouldn't when in the bathroom! ha ha ha This first picture makes me wonder if she knows that she is up to no good and that she shouldn't do what she is about to do?!?!?! ha ha ha

I have already told her no and told her to not do what she is about to do. Niles is totally oblivious to what is going on as you can tell in the pictures but once I flipped after taking this really funny pciture he removed her from the bathroom! ha ha ha

And for all intents and purposes, the toilet was very clean. I actually had just cleaned the entire bathroom and there was nothing in the toilet but clean water ha ha ha

But c'mmon...How funny is this?!?!?!

So Much Has Changed

My life has totally changed, one hundred percent, flipped around. I was thinking about this for the past week of all of the changes that were made in the past two years. Most of you all know I LOVED to party. I stayed up late, always went to work, but always had fun every night. I lived by myself and really had no responsibilities except for getting to work on time and paying my rent and car each month! It didn't matter If I stayed up till 3am because I didn't have to wake up until 3pm the next day!!! I loved to go out every weekend Fri-Sunday with friends and do random things that never were planned!!

Me then, is not Me now.

I met Niles in college and he was just like me! He loved to party and hang out with friends, stay up all night, and do whatever...whenever! So perfect match, huh?!?! Once we made the initial decision to get married and have me move to New Mexico I believe in our minds things were not going to change. They didn't for awhile...We stayed up all night and had friends over a lot and always went out to eat! No worries except for our bills being paid because we always made it to work on time and life was great!

I really believe that everything happens for a reason, that Niles and I met because Dorian and Addy needed to be apart of this world to do great things!

And now for the changes...

I am twenty five years old. When I was in High school and thought as to what I would be doing and where I would be at in life....Never in a million years would I tell you that I would have two children, in under two years, be married, drive a mini van, and live in New Mexico!!!

But yes, I am twenty five and have a wonderful daughter that is almost 10 months old, and be five/six months pregnant with my second most wonderful daughter Addy! I knew I always wanted kids, but never thought that I would be 25 when I had them. This was one of my random thoughts of the week. Also I thought I would have all boys and play with g-i-joe's for the rest of my life. But God brought me barbie dolls and dresses instead! Which I am just as happy with this life as I would have been with a life of boys.

Life with children has taught me responsibility. It has changed me in so many ways, for the better, that I can't even describe to you. I feel like I now have a purpose in life, to be a mother for my kids, and to have a great family. As I said before two years ago I did whatever whenever, but now things are planned. I am honestly in bed at 9pm every night, and up by 6am every morning. There is no more sleeping in until 3pm and no more staying up until 3am, unless I really want to punish myself the next day...but I usually choose early bed time! ha ha ha We Shop at the grocery store and hardly ever eat out to make sure we can get Dorian and Addy's things for the week. Children have a way of changing your life for the better! ha ha

I always knew that I would get married, but as my brothers would say "Who would ever marry you!?!?!?" ha ha ha This is also what I thought, never imagined someone would actually WANT to put up with me for the rest of their lives ha ha ha But Yes, I am married, and got married when I was 23. I saw everyone else around me and just imagined that I wouldn't be married until I was older around 27ish?!?! But I am so happy that Niles has put up with me and honestly it hasn't been easy for him in any way shape or form. Three months after we got married we found out that I was 2 months pregnant and have been for the past two years....I'm sure he wishes he would have a sane wife, but that will have to wait for the next couple of months! ha ha ha
Niles puts up with a lot, but is also a huge part of my life. He is the greatest dad and husband I could ever ask for. So getting married at 23 was probably a good thing that happened. Because I really think we needed to have our children early in life. Anyways that was random thought number two for the week.

And lastly, I drive a mini-van! Ha Ha Ha I have always said that I WOULD NEVER drive one if it meant that I had to eat red meat for the rest of my life...never never never! But I'm a soccer mom now, and with two HUGE car seats and eventually with two toddler seats in a vehicle...we needed the room for double strollers and stretch room for long road trips and vacations. Granted it is a pretty pimped out mini-van, it has a sun roof, and built in sun visors for the babies in the back seats, and a ton of extra storage!! But apparently these are the perks to driving a family car that I didn't know about until now! ha hahah :) Yes crazy random thought number THREE for the week.

So much has changed in mine and Niles' life. It is just sooooo crazy to think of how life was two years ago as compared to life now. I can't wait to look back in 10 years to life with to babies in diapers as opposed to two teens going through puberty! ha ha ha

Horror Story for Brandi :)

Brandi this blog is for you! This is my horror story that might match your horror story in the park! ha ha ha I left out names and specifics...but still I think an amusing little story! ha ha

Niles and I went to a very good friend of ours on Mother's Day for a cook out. There are always a lot of his co-workers there, and most of them I've gotten pretty acquainted with. But today there was a new military couple. This man, his wife, and 16 month old boy had just moved to New Mexico and didn't know anyone and was trying to make a good impression.

They seemed pretty friendly and outgoing and the night started off good. Every one's kids were getting along great! There were about 4 little little kids and 4 older kids that were playing outside. The entire time the babies were playing in the living room their 16 month old kept hitting Dorian! Of course I didn't say anything and kept glancing at the mom to do something. But honestly NOTHING! She would take him over to his father and tell him to punish him and in return the daddy would give him a toy and tell him to go off and play!

Okay so that is the start of it. Later on each child had a toy truck that they were running back and forth. The 16 month old boy had a larger one and the other two babies (Dorian included) had smaller ones. The little boy came over and pushed the other two babies out of the way and took their trucks! Every one's mouths dropped...The mother looked at us all and said that she was sorry but her child has never been around other kids before and didn't know how to behave!

But let her kid keep hitting my kid. She finally, about ten minutes before we had to leave, got down on the ground to supervise the temper tantrums, hitting, and throwing of toys her son was doing to Dorian....But SERIOUSLY!

Niles and I were in separate rooms so He didn't really see all that I saw, but what are you to do when the mother of a kid, who is beating up on your kid, doesn't do anything!?!?!?! Please Help for the future because this isn't the last time we are going to mingle with these people. They are apart of his shop and will always be at get together. And apologies were thrown our way the next day at work for the misbehaved child, but what do you do in the moment?!!?!?!? Anyone ever been in that type of situation!??!?!

But that is my horror story, almost as good as the kid throwing rocks with the parent in the car Brandi! ha ha ha

Who Needs Toys?!?!?!

Who needs toys?!?!?!...NOT Dorian! We buy toys and she doesn't play with them. Okay a few of them she DOES really like, but for the most part a spatula or a measuring cup is way cooler than a stuffed animal or blocks! ha ha This is a video of what we do everyday for the majority of the time we are up! It never gets old, and only gets more fun! And it really does get more fun each time, the screams get louder, and the laughing gets harder! ha ha ha She is a dork!

Swimming Time!!

Dorian loves loves loves the bath and has a blast every night! So on Mother's Day Niles went out and got Dorian a kiddie pool for the back yard!! It is GREAT! I can remember watching Ben and Kyle one summer playing in the exact same one while I stayed in Virginia...Loved it!!!

While daddy fixed the air conditioner, I got Dorian ready for her first swimming pool! yay!! We put her Nemo swim diapers on and her LITTLE MERMAID bathing suit, and TONS of sun screen!!!! She was ready to go!

Dorian LOVED the pool. She slipped out once trying to grab a toy, and hated the grass, but loved the pool!!! Cried soooo hard when it was time to get out and go get ready for her nap!

But it has been in the 100 degrees here for the past two weeks, so someone deserved to be swimming, and it was Dorian! The big pool doesn't open until this weekend, and I'm super stoked to go swimming every day on base!!! Last year I went down the water slide 9 months pregnant... ha ha ha The lifeguard said it was safe!!!

So here is to a good summer with lots of swimming and adventures to come our way! :)

Our Big Sand Box

When you pay to get into White Sands you pay three dollars per person in a vehicle and your ticket is good for 7 days. We decided to go out to eat for Mother's Day on Saturday to beat the rush and the crowds and after we took a drive up to the desert to see the sun set (since our ticket was still good from last week!). Dorian had a great time and loved the sand! It was super windy so we didn't stay long, but here are pictures of us playing in the big sandbox!

Dorians first Desert

Last weekend Dorian, Niles, and I headed up to White Sands National Desert to spend the afternoon! Dorian LOVED the sand. She crawled around on it for a super long time!!! It is her first time on a real desert! No water, but we had lots of fun!!! We plan to go back this weekend to see the sunset over the sand dunes!! Yay!!

On the Move!!!

In the past couple of weeks D has made leaps and bounds with her walking. We bought a walker/car toy for Dorian before we left for Easter. But she really didn't know what it was or how it worked until just recently. It was something to just hit and push over. But now she gets the idea of walking on her own and honestly if she has something in her hands she can walk across a room without any help!!!

I'm excited for her, because she gets so happy when she makes it further or stands up on her own. But truly I'm scared at the same time. She is getting so big, so quickly and I don't know where the time is going!!!! She is going to be on the move 24/7 in about a week...So I better get ready!!! She is growing up with or without me!!! ha ha
