Wellsboro: A Dickens of a Christmas

After we left my grandparents house my mother and the girls drove up to Wellsboro PA for the lighting of their Christmas tree. My mother-in-law, Loretta was going to meet us up there and we were all going to spend the weekend exploring Wellsboro. It started to snow on Saturday (the fifth), but we decided to head up early to see all of the exhibits going on and shop a little during Wellsboro's celebration. There were things planned all day, things to do in Wellsboro, this is to be the biggest thing to attend since the opening of walmart!

My mom and I got there around 1pm and it was PACKED!!! It took us about 30 minutes to find a spot to park...and what do you know it was a spot you had to parallel park in! ha ha ha My mom had to park the van because I did attempt twice and failed...but she got that mini-van right in there...IMPRESSIVE! ha ha ha We got the kids all out and packed in the stroller...but seriously it was snowing so hard I don't think 70 blankets were enough to keep the girls warm. Clearly we were not prepared for this. So immediately we set out to find some gloves, hats, and more blankets to purchase for the girls and ourselves. The streets were packed, thousands of people were out braving the weather just like us, shopping and full of Christmas spirit. A very nice lady and her sister directed us to Duhnams Department store to buy some gloves. The store is well known but this department store was in an old house. So to get baby things the sales clerk told me it was on the fourth floor...but no elevator. So I hiked it up to the fourth floor, bought the gloves, and then we were off!!!

It was really a cute town. Nice, big, old houses. Every one was dressed up like the "Dickens Christmas Story". No one seemed to mind the snow. Every was still at their booths selling their merchandise. Horse and buggie rides went all day. And everyone was SUPER nice. People were googling over the girls, and super social to my mom and I!!!

But after an hour...it was time to pack up and go meet Loretta. It was snowing to hard at this point, people were starting to pack up their booths, and Dorian's nose couldn't get any more red! ha ha ha By the time we left it had snowed so hard that you couldn't see the items people were selling! ha ha ha

A very nice lady told us a little bit of advice for next year (if we even go)....Wellsboro Christmas is ALWAYS the coldest day of the year. It ALWAYS snows. And everyone ALWAYS bundles up and braves the weather!.........this would have been great news to have the day before we went...but oh well. My mom and I went to experience the Christmas celebration...and darn it we did it up!!! ha ha ha

We packed up and headed to our WARM cabin to meet Loretta for yet another Adventure!!! ha ha ha ha

to be continued....
