We know now that we are moving to Fayetteville North Carolina. He will be stationed at Pope Air Force Base! Niles has also received his new class dates. Once the current class is done he will got several different places over the next year.
First he will venture to Washington State for two days, February 25 and 26th. Here he will be trained on parachute for safety if a plane were to have malfunctions.
Once that is complete he will go back to Washington State March 1st-19th. Here he will be trained on safety measures for being on the air plane.
He will then go for another two day class in Panama City Florida on March 23rd-25th. This is preparation for thins such as how to prepare for crash landings in water. And safety measure to take to survive a crash. Kind of scary, but good to know since it is always something that MAY happen.
He will then have a 10 week break. He will go back to New Mexico for the months of April and May. In this time we have planned to move myself and the kids to North Carolina. He will have the time off to move our things from point A to point B. We will meet up in North Carolina and get settled in during his break.
He then finishes up this entire process in Little Rock, Arkansas. His class will begin on June 8th and finish November 19th. It is a little over 18 weeks for this class, but all hands on training for his specialty plane. He will be a flight engineer for a C-130. Once this class is finished he graduates the program and will PCS (permanent change of station) to North Carolina and this is where we will stay for a long time!
Once he finishes the class he is in now we are in the safe zone. There are still exams he will have to pass but it is more hands on training and informational exams rather than a pass or fail. We are certain that after this class is over he will finish the program and it will be safe to move ahead to North Carolina.
He is doing very well in his classes, still at the top of his class, and continues to study and work hard to keep his grades high! Even with a diagnosis of pneumonia, he was able to work through it and get a 92.5 on his last exam. He is feeling much better and reports he is almost 100%.
Keep up the good work Niles! We love you and miss you!
